Add an image to video

Show the image exactly when viewers need it.

Place a photo or graphic over your video in Studio. Resize and position the image, then set when it appears. Use an image to explain a detail, show a reference, or keep a product visible beside the footage.

Studio runs in a desktop or laptop browser, not on a phone.

What you can create

Place a separate image layer

Keep the image as its own timeline item. Move it independently from the footage and choose the section where viewers see it.

Adjust size and placement

Use the image's layout controls to change dimensions, position, alignment, and rotation. Check that the image leaves important video details visible.

Control the appearance

Adjust opacity and corner rounding when the composition needs them. Use the framing controls to show the part of the image that matters.

From your idea to finished content

  1. Bring both sources into Studio

Add your video and the image you want to show. Move to the point where the image should appear.

  2. Arrange the image on the canvas

Place the image above the video in the layer order. Adjust its size and position in the layout settings.

  3. Set the visible interval

Move the image item and adjust its duration on the timeline. Preview the entry, the overlap, and the ending before exporting.

Plan an image overlay

These checklists describe edits you make directly in Studio.

Show a product detail

Add a close-up product image beside the presenter. Keep the face visible. End the image when the explanation moves on.

Show a visual reference

Place a reference photo in the corner of a demonstration. Keep its proportions intact. Check readability at the final video size.

Frequently asked questions

Can I show an image over existing footage?
Yes. Add the image as a separate layer and position it above the video. Set its size, placement, and duration.
Can the image appear for only part of the video?
Yes. Its timeline position sets the start, and its duration sets how long it remains visible.
Can I make the image partially transparent?
Yes. The image settings include an opacity control. Lower it when you want the underlying footage to remain visible.
Is this the same as image-to-video generation?
No. This workflow places an existing image in an edit. Image-to-video generation creates new motion from a starting image.
