What you can create

Choose a rate from 0.25x to 5x

Move the Playback Rate slider below normal speed to slow the clip. Move it above normal speed to accelerate the action.

Adjust one section at a time

Split a video when only one section needs a different speed. Select that section and leave the other clips at their existing rates.

Review timing after the change

A speed change affects how much source footage fits inside the clip. Inspect the timeline boundaries and any music, speech, or text nearby.

  1. Select the clip or section

    Add your video to Studio. Split it first if you want to change only part of the action.

  2. Change Playback Rate

    Select the video item and open its settings. Adjust Playback Rate, then play the result to judge the movement.

  3. Check duration and sound

    Adjust the timeline edge when the visible section needs more room. Listen to the audio and inspect neighboring clips before exporting.

Isolate the part where a mechanism opens. Reduce its playback rate. Extend the clip if needed and check the movement's clarity.

Select the repetitive section of a packing demonstration. Increase its rate. Keep the introduction and finished result at normal speed.

Which video speeds can I choose?
The Playback Rate control supports rates from 0.25x to 5x. A rate of 1x plays the footage at normal speed.
Does slowing a clip automatically make it longer?
No. Check the timeline item's duration after changing the rate. Extend its ending when you need more of the slower footage.
Can I change the speed of one section?
Yes. Split the clip to isolate that section, then change its Playback Rate independently.
Does this generate extra frames for smooth slow motion?
This control changes playback rate. It does not promise AI frame interpolation or smoother motion than the source supports.
