Sound test for left and right speakers
Check which side plays before editing a voiceover or sharing a video. Test each channel separately, then listen to both.
Test your speakers or headphones
Start with your device volume low. Each button plays a 1.2-second tone.
Choose a channel to play a short tone.
The test uses your browser's selected output. It does not record your microphone or request camera access.
How to check your audio output
- Select your speakers or headphones in your device's sound settings. Check that the browser tab is not muted.
- Press Test left channel and listen for the tone on your left. Repeat with Test right channel.
- Press Test both channels. Compare the two sides and check for an obvious missing channel.
The browser sends a 440 Hz tone to the selected channels. Your device settings and connected equipment determine the final output.
Understand what you hear
One side stays silent
Check the balance setting and cable connection. Try another output device to separate browser settings from a speaker problem.
The channels seem reversed
Check headphone orientation and speaker placement. Compare your physical setup with the left and right labels.
Both tests sound centered
Mono output can combine both channels. Check your device's audio settings before drawing conclusions about the speakers.
The tone works, but your video does not
Check the video's audio track and playback volume. A working speaker test does not confirm that every media file contains sound.
Sound test questions
Continue with your audio project
After checking your output, compare an actual spoken recording and your exported video. A single tone cannot measure full sound quality.
